LUCKNOW: The Lucknow police arrested a 24-year-old man for the alleged murder of five members of his family at a hotel in the city on January 1.

The incident occurred at Hotel Sharanjit in the Naka area, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Raveena Tyagi. The accused, identified as Arshad, was apprehended at the crime scene shortly after the gruesome act.

The victims were identified as Alia (9), Alshia (19), Aksa (16), and Rahmeen (18) β€” all sisters of the accused β€” along with their mother, Asma.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Arshad, a native of Agra, committed the act due to ongoing domestic disputes. β€œThe local police acted swiftly and arrested the accused. Forensic teams have been deployed at the scene to collect evidence, and a thorough probe is underway,” said DCP Tyagi.
