Thiruvananthapuram: A 19-year-old youth was stabbed to death in a shocking incident near Thycaud on Monday evening, triggering widespread concern across the Kerala capital.
The victim, Alan, a resident of Rajaji Nagar, was fatally injured during a clash behind the Thycaud temple around 6 pm. He was rushed to the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital on a motorcycle by two individuals who attempted to save him, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Early inquiries suggest that a minor disagreement among a group of youths escalated into a violent confrontation. The dispute reportedly stemmed from an argument over a game, and quickly intensified into a physical fight.
Eyewitnesses told police that more than 30 students were present at the spot, several of them in school uniforms. Some witnesses claimed that individuals who initially tried to mediate the quarrel may have become involved in the assault, though investigators have not confirmed this version of events.
Police sources said two persons have been taken into custody by the Cantonment Police and they are being questioned in connection with the killing. Multiple witness statements are being recorded as part of the probe.
Police teams are now analysing CCTV footage from the vicinity to reconstruct the sequence of events. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are expected to release further updates as more details emerge.
