Key Battles in the Kargil War:
Battle of Tololing: One of the first significant battles fought in the Kargil War, the Battle of Tololing was a challenging and critical engagement. Indian troops had to recapture the Tololing peak from the Pakistani intruders who had gained control of the strategic position.
Battle of Point 4875 (Batra Top): This battle is remembered for the exceptional valour of Captain Vikram Batra, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honour. Captain Batra and his team successfully captured Point 4875, an important high-altitude feature, from Pakistani forces. The feature was later named as Batra Top.
Battle of Tiger Hill: Tiger Hill was a vital and heavily fortified post occupied by Pakistani troops. The Indian Army launched a fierce assault to reclaim it. This battle saw intense fighting, and ultimately, Indian forces won, leading to the recapture of Tiger Hill.
Battle of Batalik: Batalik sector was another critical area where heavy fighting happened. Indian Army launched successful operations to drive out the Pakistani intruders and secure the region.
