Kalahandi Cup: Zaki shines in Sambalpur win

In the Qualifier match No.2 of Kalahandi Cup (senior) inter-district cricket preliminary league, Sambalpur beat Dhenkanal by 44 runs on Friday.

Opting to bat, Sambalpur scored 294 in 49.2 overs, with Sayed Zaki scoring 64 of 46 balls and Prasanta Das 56 off 69 balls. For Dhenkanal, Soumendra Das picked four wickets.

In the run-chase, Dhenkanal were bowled out for 250 in 47.5 overs. Mrutyunjaya (84) and Kanha Bhutia (64) scores were not enough to take Dhenkanal home. Pradeep Pradhan (4-34), Rahul Biswakarma (2-31) and Zaki (2-58) were among the wickets for Sambalpur.
