Kalahandi Cup: Nuapada, Gajapati register wins

Gourav Rout picked a six-wicket haul as Nuapada defended a low total to beat Kandhamal by 18 runs in a preliminary Silver group match of Kalahandi Cup on Tuesday.

Put in to bat, Nuapada were bowled out for 179 in 38.1 overs with Kandhamal’s Neelkamal Behera picking five wickets. Prayash Singh top-scored for Nuapada with 87 runs.

In the run-chase, Kandhamal faltered and were all out for 161 in 45.2 overs, with Nuapada’s Gourav Rout picking a five-for.

In another match at the Sunshine Ground, Gajapati opting to bat were all out for 159 in 26.4 overs. But Malkangiri were shot out for a meagre 39 in 12.3 overs, with Gajapati’s Chappala Ganesh taking five wickets.
