Kalahandi Cup 2026, Day 2: Sundargarh, Nabarangpur, Kendrapara and Deogarh shine in action-packed league matches
The Day 2 of the Kalahandi Cup 2026 (OCA Senior Men Inter District Cricket Tournament) delivered another action-packed schedule, with eight matches played across venues in Odisha. From dominant bowling spells to tense last-over finishes, the preliminary league continued to heat up.
At Adashpur Ground, Sundargarh defeated Nayagarh by 47 runs in a low-scoring encounter. Sundargarh posted 142/9 in 30 overs, with Aditya Anand scoring an unbeaten 48 off 78 balls and Soumya Lenka adding 29 off 26. Prasant Rana was outstanding with the ball, claiming 4/9. In reply, Nayagarh were bowled out for 95 in 26.3 overs. Krishna Palai starred with figures of 4/12, while Soumya Lenka chipped in with 2/16 to seal the win.
At Ravenshaw II Ground, Nabarangpur chased down 190 comfortably to beat Sambalpur-B by seven wickets. Sambalpur-B were all out for 190 in 40.3 overs, with Satya R Samal (42) and Sayed Zaki (41 off 23) leading the scoring. Dinesh Srivastav took 4/22. In response, Nabarangpur reached 193/3 in just 30 overs, powered by an unbeaten 82 off 58 balls from Arjun Kumar and 68 not out from Dilip Bisoi.
Kendrapara registered a seven-wicket win over Dhenkanal at Centurion University Ground. Dhenkanal managed 151 all out in 40 overs, with Bikash Rout scoring 41. Abhijeet Rout (3/17) and Soumitra Biswal (3/22) were impressive with the ball. Kendrapara chased down the target in 31.2 overs, finishing at 157/4, thanks to Aakash Nayak’s unbeaten 77.

At Sunshine Ground, ECORSA beat Balangir by 44 runs. Batting first, ECORSA scored 229 in 45.2 overs, with Sujit Lenka making 71. Omkar Mohanty claimed 5/33 for Balangir. However, Balangir were bowled out for 185 in 43.3 overs despite Jogeswar Bag’s 51. Jayanta K Behera (3/26) and Suryakant Pradhan (3/28) ensured ECORSA’s victory.
Sambalpur-A edged out Sonepur by 23 runs in a high-scoring contest at BJB School Ground, Khordha. Sambalpur-A posted 265/9 in 45 overs, led by a superb 119 off 118 balls from Debashis Bagh. Sonepur responded strongly, reaching 242/8 in their 45 overs, with Niteesh Kumar scoring 95 off 131 balls and Abhilash Nayak contributing 66 off 50. Nishith Singh (4/52) and Shresth Singh (3/42) helped Sambalpur-A defend the total.
At DRIEMS Ground, Khordha defeated Cuttack-B by six wickets. Cuttack-B were bowled out for 184 in 49.5 overs, with Ankeet K Behera making 55. Sumit Maharana (3/22) and Biswabhushan Bihari (2/25) were among the wickets. Khordha chased down the target, finishing at 187/4 in 42.5 overs. Biswabhushan Bihari led from the front with a solid 93 off 116 balls.
Bhubaneswar-A continued their good form with a seven-wicket win over Koraput at ECORSA Khordha Road Stadium, Jatni. Koraput were bowled out for 183 in 45.2 overs, with Arasada Kishore scoring 60. Ashutosh Nayak returned figures of 4/32. Bhubaneswar-A reached 184/3 in 36.4 overs, guided by Anurag Sarangi’s 71 and Shatanu Mishra’s 44.
At Nimpur Cricket Ground, Jajpur secured a six-wicket victory over Boudh. Boudh were dismissed for just 85 in 26.5 overs, with Shaikh Ajharuddin (4/20) and Papu Ray (3/23) doing the damage. Jajpur chased down the target comfortably, scoring 89/4 in 17.3 overs.
The closest match of the day came at Ravenshaw I Ground, where Deogarh edged Malkangiri by one wicket. Malkangiri were bowled out for 148 in 37.3 overs, with Subir Sardar scoring 60. SK M Naqueeb picked up 4/32 for Deogarh. In reply, Deogarh reached 151/9 in 36.2 overs. Sohamraj Mahapatra’s quick 31 off 24 balls proved crucial as Deogarh sealed a thrilling one-wicket win.
