Jena, Xess win at javelin competition

To commemorate Neeraj Chopra’s gold medal at Tokyo Olympics on August 7, last year – Odisha Athletics Association along with KIIT organised a javelin competition at KIIT and KISS Athletics Stadium, Bhubaneswar.

As many as 63 men and women athletes participated. In the men’s category Kishore Kumar Jena of Cuttack secured first position while Dipankar Behera of Khurda and Chinmaya Ranjan Jena of Postal secured second and third spots respectively.

In women’s competition, Dhanmati Xess of Cuttack secured first position and Jyotsna Priyadarsini Sahoo of Jagatsingpur second and Maitreyi Parulekar of Bhubaneswar took the third spot.

Gaganendu Das, Director General sport of KIIT inaugurated the meet and in the closing ceremony function Asirbad Behera, Hony Secretary and G. Srinibas Patnaik, President Odisha Athletics Association gave away certificates and cash award to the winners of the meet.
