Puri: The Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri will reopen for devotees from February 1. However, the temple will remain closed on Sundays for sanitisation purpose, Puri collector Samarth Verma informed on Friday.
Due to surge in Covid-19 cases in the state, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), earlier this month had closed the temple for public from January 10.
A meeting of the Chhatisa Nijoga was held on Friday through video conferencing, with the Puri collector, Puri SP and SJTA administrator being present.
During this period of closure of the temple, the daily rituals of the deities continued as usual.
