The BCCI has unveiled a preliminary schedule for IPL 2024, spanning the initial 17 days of the tournament from March 22 to April 7, featuring a total of 21 matches. The initial fixture will have four double-headers.
After the opener in Chennai, Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals are set to clash in the inaugural afternoon fixture on March 23 in Mohali. The Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their campaign at home against Sunrisers Hyderabad on the same day. The Rajasthan Royals will host Lucknow Super Giants on the opening Sunday of the season.
Interestingly, the first phase of IPL 2024 will not include any matches in Delhi. Instead, the Delhi Capitals will play their two home games in Vizag. Further details regarding the remainder of the schedule are expected to be announced by the BCCI post the General Election dates declaration by the Election Commission of India.
During the 17-day span outlined in the preliminary schedule of IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans and RCB are set to play five of their 14 matches. In contrast, Kolkata Knight Riders will have a lighter schedule with only three matches, while the remaining franchises are scheduled for four games each. Notably, Punjab Kings will undergo a change in venue for their home games, opting for a brand new location in Mullanpur, on the outskirts of Chandigarh, as opposed to their conventional home ground in Mohali.
