Three teams and one playoff spot which was decided on Sunday night with Gujarat Titans thumping win in Bangalore.
The scenario was simple. Royal Challengers Bangalore needed a win, Mumbai Indians also needed a win provided RCB lost their match. For Rajasthan Royals, it was an outside chance, if RCB and MI both lost their matches on Sunday.
Mumbai thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad by 8 wickets with 12 balls remaining, but their fate depended on the result of the second match of the day and it exactly played out to their favour.
Virat Kohli scored an unbeaten century and helped RCB put up 197 for 5 in 20 overs. However, an in-form Shubman Gill had other plans as he matched Kohli’s heroics with an unbeaten hundred as Gujarat won by 6 wickets with five balls to spare.
Gujarat having already made it to the playoffs, confirmed Mumbai’s ticket to the knockout stage by beating RCB.
In Qualifier 1, Chennai Super Kings will meet Gujarat while Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai will clash in the Eliminator.
