The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has launched “Let’s Move India,” a campaign aimed at encouraging physical activity and celebrating athletes heading to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. This initiative invites people across India to participate in a digital challenge by sharing their moves on social media using @OlympicKhel and #LetsMoveIndia.

“Let’s Move India” collaborates with the Reliance Foundation and the Abhinav Bindra Foundation to engage schools nationwide through the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP). The initiative coincides with Olympic Day on June 23 and promotes the joy of movement among young people.

The campaign encourages individuals of all ages to recreate their favourite athlete celebrations or create their own moves, from catchy dance steps to tributes to local sports. These should be uploaded to social media platforms, tagging @OlympicKhel and #LetsMoveIndia.

Manika Batra, India’s table tennis star sponsored by Reliance Foundation, unveiled the initiative on Viacom18’s JioCinema. She expressed her excitement, stating, “As an athlete, I believe that physical activity is essential for our well-being. ‘Movement is medicine,’ and our goal is to inspire more Indians to embrace an active lifestyle.”

The IOC has partnered with Abhinav Bindra, India’s first individual Olympic gold medallist, through the Abhinav Bindra Foundation. The foundation’s OVEP initiative has already positively impacted 7 million children by promoting physical activity and gender inclusivity in Odisha and Assam.

Abhinav Bindra emphasised the campaign’s significance, saying, “Let’s Move in India is more than just a campaign; it’s a celebration of our collective spirit and dedication to physical well-being.”

Launched on Olympic Day 2023 in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), the global “Let’s Move” initiative has inspired over 15 million people to embrace physical activity. The campaign aligns with the Olympic Movement’s mission to improve the world through sport.

To participate, record a video of your move, share it on Instagram or X (formerly Twitter), and tag @OlympicKhel with the hashtags #Paris2024 and #LetsMoveIndia.
