Bhubaneswar: A workshop organised by School of Women’s Studies was held on Tuesday on the eve of International Women’s Day at Utkal University.
“We celebrate the day every year to remind everyone about gender equality. The discrimination should change in our social system. It is everyone’s responsibility to change that mindset. As students you all can bring in the change,” Utkal University vice-chancellor Prof Sabita Acharya said.
Prof Jayanti Dora, head of History department and director Women’s Studies welcomed all the guests. Sangeeta V. and Aditya Vashishta, founders of Spark of Lights, Australia, were present. The Women Empowerment Award was given to Amisha Dalai, a student of School of Women’s Studies.
On the other hand, Dr Rajashree Biswal, art historian and artistic and curatorial director, New Bridge India also spoke.
The students of different departments, staff were present and Prof. Dora coordinated the workshop and presented the vote of thanks.
