Bhubaneswar: The Inter University Women’s Hockey Championship organised by Rama Devi Women’s University was inaugurated on Thursday at Biju Patnaik Sports Complex, Utkal University here.

Prof. Aparajita Chowdhury, vice-chancellor of the university pointed out that for the first time the Inter University Women’s Hockey Championship has been organised and it is a great start.
“Hockey is a game for all. Not only men but women too have all the rights to play hockey with all their heart and dedication,” said Prof Sabita Acharya, vice-chancellor of Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.
Former international hockey player Paulina Surin said players like Dilip Tirkey are an inspiration for upcoming players from the state.
