Apart from being a heritage and pilgrimage centre of India, Odisha also has some of the top national educational institutes.

Indian Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar

Indian Institute of Technology is considered as one of the best engineering colleges in India when it comes to tecnical education, and Bhubaneswar has one of its campus. It was established in the year 2008 and is recently ranked in the 47th position QS 2021 Asia Ranking. The institute offers undergraduate, post-graduate as well as doctoral courses like B.Tech, M.Tech, MSc, Integrated M.Tech and Ph.D.

National Institute of Technology, Rourkela

National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela is considered as one of the top institutes of India and is ranked in the 32th position in the overall performance by the NIRF 2020. B.Tech is the most opted course here and the institute is ranked in the 16th position by the NIRF 2020 for B.Tech programmes. Students passing out from NIT Rourkela are placed in premium companies with high pay packages.

Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Berhampur

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Berhampur was established in the year 2016 by the Ministry of Human Resource Department. It is an educational as well as public research institute and is recognised nationally, thus giving it the status of Institute of National importance by the Government of India.

National Institute of Fashion Technology, Bhubaneswar

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Bhubaneswar is a renowned fashion and design related institute and was established in Bhubaneswar in the year 2010. This is considered as a top institute in terms of placement, resources and faculty.

Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Dhenkanal

Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Dhenkanal was established in August 1993 as a branch of IIMC, Delhi, an autonomous body funded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India. It offers Post Graduate Diploma courses in English and Odia.journalism.

Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar

Institute of Physics, Bhubaneswar is a research institute in the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India. The institute was established in the year 1972 with support from the Government of Odisha.

National Law University Odisha, Cuttack

National Law University Odisha (NLUO), Cuttack is a premium national law university of India, established in the year 2009. The university offers two undergraduate programmes, two postgraduate programmes, and two doctoral programmes and is also ranked as the third best law university of India by the India Today Rankings 2019.

National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research, Cuttack

Swami Vivekananda National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research is a training and research institute under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment of India, which was established in the year 1974. It is located 30km from Cuttack and was founded to empower people with disabilities.

India Institute of Management, Sambalpur

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) is situated at Sambalpur in western Odisha. The present campus is currently located at Sambalpur University. The public management institute was announced in 2014 by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and was established in 2015, with the first batch starting in 2015. The Government of Odisha has allotted 237 acres of land for the construction of its permanent campus at Basantpur. In 2018, the Government of India proposed a budget of Rs 400 crore for the construction of the permanent campus, which is expected to be ready by 2022.

International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar

The International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Bhubaneswar was established in the year 2006 by the Government of Odisha. The institute provides various UG, PG and Doctoral programmes. The institute has provided impressive job opportunities to the students in the past few years.
