Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is spearheading efforts to transform Hyderabad into a vibrant 24×7 city, unveiling plans to boost the night economy in commercial hubs like Hi-Tec City. The initiative aims to keep establishments open round-the-clock, fostering economic growth and creating employment opportunities.

To implement this vision, the chief minister has directed officials to devise plans for scaling up the night economy, including the introduction of late-night transportation and exploring proposals for night bazaars. The move aligns with the goal of making Hyderabad a ‘truly global city.’

Urban planning experts emphasise the need for supportive bylaws and services such as late-night transportation to stimulate a thriving night economy. The proposed changes, focusing on certain areas like Hi-Tec City, seek to enhance the city’s appeal and promote tourism in iconic locations such as Charminar and Golconda.

The night economy plan, initially introduced before the assembly elections last year, faced limited interest from businesses. The government hopes that a flourishing night economy will not only boost tax revenues but also create a conducive environment for better employment opportunities.

As reported by TOI, there are concerns over alcohol-related issues and potential law and order problems, but the government is committed to studying the proposal thoroughly.
