Gurugram Police seizes 549 kg cannabis worth Rs 1 crore, arrests two

Gurugram: In a significant drug bust, Gurugram Police confiscated 549 kg of ganja (cannabis) worth Rs 1 crore in Gurugram district, leading to the apprehension of two individuals, as revealed by police sources on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch team of Gurugram Police intercepted a truck near Lakhuwas village, successfully apprehending the two drug peddlers involved in the illicit trade, according to a spokesperson from the Gurugram Police.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Taslim, a resident of Nuh and Mukeem, hailing from Palwal district in Haryana. The seized ganja was traced back to its origin in Visakhapatnam, intended for delivery to Tauru in Nuh district, as confirmed by police authorities.

A thorough search operation yielded multiple bags containing the 549 kg of ganja, underscoring the scale of the illegal operation. The police spokesperson stated, “The culprits have been arrested, and the truck, along with the ganja, was seized. A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered against them at Sohna city police station.”
