Bhubaneswar: Studies and sports should go together at the university level for all-round development of students, former Test opener Arun Lal said on Saturday.

“If students don’t give equal importance to sports with their studies, they will remain half-educated,” Lal said while speaking at the concluding function of SOA Cup.

The month long SOA Cup involving competitions in multiple sporting events had kicked off on January 4.

Describing a student’s life in an educational institution as a golden period, Lal said a student could achieve success through hard work and focused mindset.

Prof. Bijay Kumar Sahu, vice-chancellor of SOA and Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, dean (Students’ Welfare) spoke on the occasion while the sports officer, Sunita Burma presented the annual report. Lal gave away the prizes and trophy to the winners.
