Gita Samantray to head OCA’s women’s selection committee

Gita Samantray has been appointed chairman of women’s selection committee.

The Odisha Cricket Association on Monday has appointed a five-member women’s selection committee headed by Gita Samantray.

The other members to assist her are: Sasmita Pattnaik, Madhusmita Mohapatra, Sudhansubala Sahoo and Gangotri Behera.

Meanwhile, Purnendu Jena has been appointed as the head strength and conditioning coach (S&C Coach) for the season 2022-23. Prior to joining OCA he has worked with Manipur and Nagaland senior men’s team.

He has also worked at National Cricket Academy and Zonal Cricket Academy of various age groups. He was also associated with Odisha Cricket Academy for different age group teams.

Purnendu Jena will be head strength and conditioning coach for 2022-23 season.

He is the only Level-1 qualified strength and conditioning coach of BCCI from Odisha. Apart from the Level-1, Jena is also ASCA Level-2 certificate holder and was placed in the proficient group of trainers by NCA.
