Ghaziabad: A restaurant worker was arrested in Ghaziabad after a video allegedly showing him spitting on rotis while preparing them went viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.
The incident reportedly took place at a food outlet named Chicken Point. In the video, the worker can be seen baking rotis in a tandoor after allegedly spitting on them. The act was recorded by someone present at the shop, and the clip quickly circulated on social media platforms, drawing sharp reactions from the public.
Confirming the action taken, ACP Kavinagar Suryabali Maurya said that the video came to the notice of the Vardhmanpuram police outpost under Madhuban Bapudham police station on January 8, 2026. After reviewing the footage, the allegations were found to be prima facie true. The accused was arrested immediately, and a case has been registered against him under relevant legal provisions.
Ghaziabad has seen similar incidents in the past, raising concerns over food safety. In an earlier case, a shopkeeper was assaulted by locals for allegedly serving fruit juice mixed with urine. The police later arrested the shop owner and detained his minor assistant. Residents have now urged authorities to take strict action to prevent such incidents and ensure hygiene standards at food establishments.
