Bhubaneswar: The 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated at East Coast Railway (ECoR) headquarters here on Monday.

The principal heads of departments, senior officials and staff of ECoR led by its additional general manager Sharad Kumar Srivastava paid floral tributes to the father of the nation.

To mark the occasion, ECoR had organised Swachhata Pakhwada from September 16- 30 with participation by the railwaymen. The railway employees at all levels and departments participated and contributed towards the Swachhta drives organised at railway stations, trains, coach maintenance depots, various offices, workplaces and railway colonies.

Railwaymen in remote stations also took part actively, with activities such as Swachh Sambad, Swachh Station, Swachh Parisar, Swachh Aahar, Swachh Neer, Swachh Prasadhan, Swachh Railgadi were taken up during this fortnight long cleanliness drive.

On the day, additional general manager of ECoR Sharad Kumar Srivastava felicitated the participants for their achievements in various competitions.

All the principal heads of the departments, senior officials along with principal chief mechanical engineer Biswajit Moitra, staff and members of East Coast Railway Womens Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO) were present on this occasion. KP Yadav CME/Environment & Housekeeping Management (EnHM) and deputy CME/Coaching and EnHM Dinesh Kumar coordinated the programme.
