New Delhi: In a joint operation, Delhi Police and Bihar Police gunned down four wanted gangsters from Bihar in an overnight encounter in Rohini, officials said on Wednesday.
The shootout took place late Tuesday night when a joint police team launched a search to track down the accused, who had been hiding in Delhi for several days, according to police sources.
The slain gangsters were identified as Ranjan Pathak, Vimlesh Mahto, Manish Pathak and Aman Thakur — all residents of Bihar. Police said they were involved in several murder and extortion cases across Bihar and adjoining states.
During the operation, the accused reportedly opened fire on the police team, prompting retaliatory firing. All four were injured in the exchange of bullets and later declared dead at a Rohini hospital.
Officials described Ranjan Pathak as the kingpin of the gang, which ran a well-organised criminal network active in parts of Bihar and nearby regions.
Police said the successful operation marks a significant blow to criminal activities linked to the group, which had been evading arrest for months.
