The first National Medical Records Day was celebrated at SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM) on September 9.
The National Medical Records Day was introduced by the Health Records Association of India this year. Dr (Brig) Biraj Mohan Mishra, chief of medical services, SUM Ultimate Medicare attended the event as chief guest along with Dr PK Panda, medical superintendent, SUM Ultimate Medicare who was present at the event as the guest of honour.
The event witnessed a congregation of all the HODs and faculties at SUMUM who had gathered to celebrate the first-ever Medical Records Day that has been celebrated in the history of India’s healthcare fraternity.

Dr Manas Ranjan Sethi, HOD of Medical Records Department while addressing the gathering said that the Medical Records have been a very integral part of the healthcare industry’s administrative system and it is our duty to address the hardships and efforts of the medical records professionals.
“Medical Records Department has been a hidden gem of the healthcare industry. The contribution of the Medical Records Department has been immense. Starting from maintaining administration to rendering effective service to the patients, medical records have a helping hand in all. It is the duty of all of us to take a few moments out of our busy life and appreciate these unsung heroes of the healthcare industry.” Dr Sethi said.
The event was later concluded by a cake cutting ceremony that marked the first National Medical Records Day of India.
