The quadrennial event will be played across eight stadiums with the teams been divided into eight groups of four, and only top two teams from each group will progress to the knockout stages.
FIFA World Cup 2022 will have 64 matches and each team will play three matches in the group stage before the knockouts begin with round of 16 on December 3.

In the opener on November 20, hosts Qatar take on Equador in a Group A match at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor. The semifinals are scheduled for December 14 and 15.
The final of FIFA World Cup 2022 will be played on December 18 at Lusail Iconic Stadium.
