Ballia: A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia has sentenced a father and his son to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of an 11-year-old boy that took place 13 years ago, police said on Wednesday.
The case dates back to October 11, 2012, when Bablu Yadav was stabbed to death in Chand Diar village under the Bairia police station area. According to the prosecution, his body was later hidden inside an unfinished structure in a field in an attempt to destroy evidence.
After the boy’s uncle, Ramashankar Yadav, filed a complaint, police registered a case of murder and destruction of evidence against two villagers, Virendra Bind and his son Ravi Bind. Following an investigation, a chargesheet was filed against both of them.
Superintendent of police Omveer Singh said the conviction followed a detailed investigation and court proceedings. Additional District and Sessions Judge Punit Kumar Gupta pronounced the verdict, sentencing both accused to life in prison. The court also imposed a fine on the two convicts.
