Cuttack: Day 7 of the East Zone Inter-University Cricket Tournament (EZIU) delivered a mix of tight contests and dominant performances as four matches were played across the Ravenshaw grounds.
At Ravenshaw Ground 1, VBSPU Purvanchal University edged past B.R.A Bihar University in a closely fought encounter. Batting first, VBSPU posted 134 for 9. In reply, B.R.A Bihar University fell short despite a strong bowling effort from Sachin Kumar, who picked up 4 wickets for 18 runs in his four overs. B.R.A Bihar University were restricted to 125 for 9, handing VBSPU a narrow nine-run victory.

On Ravenshaw Ground 2, Kolhan University registered a commanding nine-wicket win over the University of Calcutta. Calcutta were bowled out for 125 in 18.5 overs. Kolhan University made light work of the chase, reaching 127 for 1 in 17.4 overs. Dibyanshu Ojha anchored the innings with a fluent 60 off 45 balls, striking four fours and two sixes, and was named the stand-out performer.
Earlier at Ravenshaw Ground 1, Banaras Hindu University produced a clinical chase to defeat Rabindra Bharati University by six wickets in a Pool-B clash. Rabindra Bharati University scored 147 for 8, but BHU responded confidently, reaching 149 for 4 in 18 overs. Siddhart led the chase with a composed 54 off 46 balls, which included two fours and three sixes.
The most dramatic finish of the day came at Ravenshaw Ground 2, where Patliputra University pulled off a three-wicket win against Hemchand Yadav Vishwavidyalay. HYVV put up a competitive 183 for 5, but Patliputra University held their nerve during the chase. Sholk Kumar starred with a fine all-round performance, scoring 46 off 45 balls and then returning impressive bowling figures of 4 wickets for 20 runs in 3.5 overs, as PU sealed victory in the final stages.
