East Coast Railway (ECoR) is set to address the surge in travel demand during the summer season by introducing a range of special train services. These services, aimed at accommodating the additional rush in regular trains, will operate across various destinations within the country. Additionally, the ECoR plans to extend the services of existing special trains to ensure continued connectivity for passengers.
Here’s a detailed rundown of the newly introduced special train services:
A. Puri-Shalimar Bi-Weekly Summer Special Train: Departing from Puri every Sunday and Wednesday and from Shalimar every Monday and Thursday, this service will run between April 21st to June 30th, 2024.
B. Puri-Nizamuddin Weekly Summer Special Train: Operating every Friday from Puri and every Saturday from Nizamuddin, this service will be available from April 19th to June 28th, 2024.
C. Malatipatapur (Puri)-Shalimar Weekly Summer Special Train: Running between April 14th to June 30th, 2024, this weekly service will operate from Shalimar every Sunday and from Malatipatapur every Monday.
D. Bhubaneswar-Yesvantpur Weekly Summer Special Train: Operating every Saturday from Bhubaneswar and every Monday from Yesvantpur, this service will run from April 13th to May 25th, 2024.
E. Brahmapur-Surat Weekly Summer Special Train: Departing every Wednesday from Surat and every Friday from Brahmapur, this service will run between April 17th to June 26th, 2024.
F. Sambalpur-Pune Weekly Summer Special Train: Operating every Sunday from Sambalpur and every Tuesday from Pune, this service will be available from April 14th to June 30th, 2024.
G. Sambalpur-Guwahati Weekly Summer Special Train: Departing every Monday from Sambalpur and every Wednesday from Guwahati, this service will run from April 22nd to June 24th, 2024.
H. Visakhapatnam-Kollam Summer Special: Running every Wednesday from Visakhapatnam and every Thursday from Kollam, this service will operate from April 17th to July 3rd, 2024.
I. Visakhapatnam-Kurnool Summer Special: Operating every Tuesday from Visakhapatnam and every Wednesday from Kurnool, this service will run from April 2nd to June 25th, 2024.
Additionally, the ECoR plans to extend the services of several existing special trains, ensuring continuous connectivity for passengers. These extended services include:
J. Bhubaneswar-Chennai Weekly Special Train: Continuing until June 4th, 2024, this weekly service will operate between Chennai and Bhubaneswar every Monday and Tuesday.
K. Bhubaneswar-Dhanbad Special Train: Running until June 29th, 2024, this daily service will operate between Bhubaneswar and Dhanbad.
L. Puri-Patna Special Train: Continuing until June 30th, 2024, this service will operate between Puri and Patna every Saturday and Sunday.
M. Puri-Patna Special Train: Continuing until July 26th, 2024, this service will operate between Patna and Puri every Thursday and Friday.
N. Puri-Bhanjapur (Baripada) Special Train: Continuing until June 30th, 2024, this service will operate between Bhanjapur and Puri every Thursday, Saturday, Friday, and Sunday.
O. Puri-Santragachhi Special Train: Continuing until June 29th, 2024, this service will operate between Santragachhi and Puri every Friday and Saturday.
P. Brahmapur-Ernakulam Weekly Jansadharan Special Train: Continuing until May 27th, 2024, this unreserved weekly service will operate between Ernakulam and Brahmapur every Saturday and Monday.
Q. Cuttack-Hyderabad Special Train: Continuing until June 20th, 2024, this service will operate between Hyderabad and Cuttack every Tuesday and Wednesday.
R. Visakhapatnam-Secunderabad Special Train: Continuing until June 27th, 2024, this service will operate between Visakhapatnam and Secunderabad every Wednesday and Thursday.
S. Visakhapatnam-Tirupati Special Train: Continuing until June 25th, 2024, this service will operate between Visakhapatnam and Tirupati every Monday and Tuesday.
T. Visakhapatnam-Bengaluru Special Train: Continuing until July 1st, 2024, this service will operate between Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru every Sunday and Monday.
Apart from these, 13 pairs of long distance special trains are also running through ECoR jurisdiction between important destinations of the country. These are, Secunderabad-Dibrugarh-Secunderabad Special, Secunderabad-Agartala-Secunderabad Special, Chennai-Santragachhi-Chennai Special, Nagercoil-Dibrugarh-Nagercoil Special, Kochuvelli-Shalimar-Kochuvelli Special, Bengaluru-Kharagpur-Bengaluru Special, Santragachhi-Secunderabad-Santragachhi Special, Secunderabad-Shalimar-Secunderabad Special, Bengaluru-Malda Town-Bengaluru Special, Mysore-Muzaffarpur-Mysore Special, New Tinsukia-Bengaluru-New Tinsukia Special and Howrah-Yesvantpur-Howrah special trains.
