New Delhi: The Delhi Police, on Tuesday (Dec 24), uncovered a major illegal immigration racket aiding Bangladeshi nationals with forged documents. A total of 11 individuals, including five Bangladeshi citizens, have been arrested in connection with the case.
The arrests are part of the Delhi Police’s ongoing drive to identify and act against illegal immigrants in the national capital. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South, Ankit Chauhan, stated that the gang was involved in creating fake Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, and other forged documents through fake websites to help illegal immigrants settle in India.
The accused reportedly used jungle routes and express trains to facilitate the entry of Bangladeshi nationals into Indian territory. “The racket involved a well-organised system to create counterfeit documents using fake websites,” DCP Chauhan informed.
The arrests come amid increased efforts by the Delhi administration to tackle illegal immigration. Recently, Delhi Lieutenant Governor directed the Chief Secretary and the Commissioner of Police to launch a two-month special drive to identify and take stringent action against Bangladeshi immigrants residing illegally in the city.
The investigation has revealed that the racket not only facilitated the production of forged identification documents but also exploited loopholes to evade detection. The arrested individuals, including locals involved in document forgery, played a key role in supporting the illegal activities.
This operation highlights the Delhi Police’s commitment to addressing illegal immigration and safeguarding the integrity of identification systems. Further investigations are underway to identify additional links.
