New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a 30-year-old property dealer who turned into a gangster for his alleged role in a murder case in the Bhalswa Dairy area. The accused, Prince Chauhan, was wanted in multiple cases of murder, robbery and kidnapping across Delhi.
According to the police, Chauhan and his gang members opened fire on Nasir Pehalwan and his relatives during a heated dispute in October last year. Two men, Shahrukh and Naushad, were injured in the attack, and Naushad later died from his wounds.
Police had already arrested four of Chauhan’s aides — Juber, Ankit alias Vicky, Shakeel, and Shivam alias Shubham — but Chauhan had been on the run since the incident. He was declared a proclaimed offender in two other serious cases, including a 2020 murder in Shaheen Bagh and an armed robbery in Narela Industrial Area.
A special police team finally tracked him down after receiving information about his movements. During interrogation, Chauhan revealed that he led a local gang operating in Bhalswa Dairy and outer north Delhi, engaged in violent territorial rivalries. He admitted to killing a rival gangster, Inderjeet alias Honey, in 2020.
Police records show Chauhan is involved in at least six major criminal cases, and proceedings are underway in several others. A graduate in commerce from a college in Alipur, Chauhan had worked as a property dealer before turning to crime ‘for easy money and influence,’ police said.
