Dandsena creates new record in state athletics meet
Ashok Dandsena of Odisha Police created a new state record in 5000 mtr by clocking a time of 14min:49.4sec at the 68th Odisha State Athletics Meet 2022.
The old record was 15min:05.2 sec in the name of TK Tirkey, which was created in the year 1980.
A new meet record was created by Omkar Prasad Nanda (boys U-16) in shot put event with a throw of 16.94 mtr. The old record was 14.16 mtr.
The state athletics meet is being held from April 8 to April 11 at KIIT and KISS Athletics stadium in Bhubaneswar.
In the opening ceremony, Dr. Achyuta Samanta Hon’ble MP and founder KIIT & KISS was the chief guest. All the office bearers including the hony. secretary Asirbad Behera and president G Srinivas Patnaik of Odisha Athletics Association were present. Athletes from all the districts and affiliated units numbering about 1500 athletes and 200 technical officials participated in a colourful march past.
