CSIR-IMMT hosts 51st Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Indoor Final Tournament 2024

Bhubaneswar: The 51st Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Indoor Final Tournament-2024 is currently underway at CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), Bhubaneswar, from March 15 to 19.

The tournament was inaugurated by Chetan Prakash Jain, financial adviser, CSIR, in the presence of former India cricketer Debasish Mohanty, Dr Sanjeev Khosla, president CSIR-SPB, and Dr Anuradha Madhukar, chief scientist CSIR-HQ. The event was attended by Dr Ramanuj Narayan, director of CSIR-IMMT and chairman of the event organising committee, among others.

During the inauguration, the annual Souvenir “SSBMT -2024” was unveiled, marking the start of the event. With the patronage of the CSIR-Sports Promotion Board, New Delhi, the tournament has drawn participation from numerous CSIR scientific laboratories nationwide.

More than 200 participants, including over 60 women, are vying for the national championship title across various events such as bridge, chess, table tennis, badminton, and carrom board. The tournament has garnered a warm welcome from participants and officials alike, with match officials representing associations including the All-Odisha Chess Association, Odisha Bridge Association, and others.
