The alliance aims to pioneer the development of innovative technologies for the extraction of critical minerals from Indian deposits, reshaping the global geopolitical landscape.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr Ramanuj Narayan, director of CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar and DV Ganvir, deputy director general of GSI, in presence of Janardan Prasad, director general of GSI, Kolkata, here on Wednesday.
Dr Narayan emphasised that this initiative aligns perfectly with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, highlighting its pivotal role in fostering self-sufficiency and technological prowess.
Expressing satisfaction over the endeavour, Prasad underscored the significance of recovering critical and strategic mineral resources. Both Dr Narayan and Prasad expressed eagerness to embark on joint research and development projects of national importance in the future.
The meeting, convened at GSI, Kolkata, witnessed the presence of Dr DS Rao, Dr Kali Sanjay, Dr Prabhas Beuria, Dr Santosh Behera and Dr Shivakumar Angadi.
