CSE department of ITER win SOA Cup

Bhubaneswar: Students of the department of Computer Science Engineering (CSE) of Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER) became overall champions in the SOA Cup in the competitions held in eight different sporting disciplines which concluded recently.

CSE students won the kabaddi (men), basketball (women), table tennis (men and women) and chess (men) competitions to finish ahead of the Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS) which was placed second. All the constituent institutes of SOA participated in the competition.

IMS students won the basketball (men) and cricket (women) final while Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS) students won the volleyball (men) event. SUM Nursing College (SNC) girls won the throwball event for women.

Odisha’s minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Tusharkanti Behera, who attended the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest on Monday, gave away the prizes.

Behera said that students should take active interest in sports and participate in Khelo India University Games.

SOA vice-chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, pro-vice chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, dean (students’ welfare) Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das and the sports officer Sunita Barma were present.
