Ananthapur: Andhra built a solid platform on the opening day of their Cooch Behar Trophy (U19) multi-day match against Odisha, finishing at 246 for 7 at the Rayalaseema Cricket Ground, here on Sunday.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, Andhra were steadied by a gritty century from Lohith Lakshmi Narayana, who anchored the innings with a solid 101 off 229 balls, hitting 12 fours and a six. His patient knock, compiled at a strike rate of 44.1, held the innings together against disciplined Odisha bowling.
Late in the day, Anv Lohith provided Andhra with vital momentum, remaining unbeaten on 60 off just 56 deliveries, smashing five fours and three sixes at an impressive strike rate of 107.14. His aggressive approach ensured Andhra ended the day with a competitive total despite losing regular wickets.
For Odisha, Raaz Yadav was the standout bowler, returning figures of 3 for 56 from 17 overs, maintaining pressure with his tight lines. Sambit K Beja also made crucial breakthroughs, picking up 2 for 52 from 10 overs.
