Cuttack: Vidarbha strengthened their position against Odisha on the second day of the Col. CK Nayudu Trophy (U23) multi-day match at the MGM School of Sports, here, finishing with a commanding 221-run lead at stumps on Monday.

Resuming play, Vidarbha were bowled out for 166 in their first innings, with Gaurav Farde (30) and Sanskar Chavate (22) contributing useful runs. For Odisha, Saideep Mohapatra impressed with figures of 3 for 14, while Vimal Kumar took 3 for 57.

Batting again, Vidarbha ended the day at 183 for 4 in 58 overs in their second innings. Abhishek S. Agrawal anchored the innings with a patient unbeaten 77, supported by Jagjot’s solid 54. Among Odisha’s bowlers, Soumya R. Lenka (1/13) and Ashutosh Chhuria (1/27) managed to make breakthroughs but couldn’t stop Vidarbha’s steady progress.

At stumps on Day 2, Vidarbha had taken a firm grip on the contest, leading by 221 runs with six wickets still in hand.
