CK Nayudu Trophy: Odisha trail by 91 runs after Day 1 against Vidarbha

Cuttack: Vidarbha took early control on the opening day of their Col C K Nayudu Trophy (U23 Men) multi-day match against Odisha at the MGM School of Sports, Cuttack, bowling out the hosts for 75/6 at stumps after posting 166 in their first innings.

Electing to bat first, Vidarbha managed 166 in 48.2 overs, with opener Gaurav Farde leading the way with a quick 30 off 25 balls, including six boundaries. Sanskar Chavate also contributed 22 runs. For Odisha, Vimal Kumar took 3 wickets for 57 runs in 13 overs, while Saideep Mohapatra bowled a tight spell of 2.2 overs, taking 3 for 14.

In reply, Odisha’s top order struggled against disciplined Vidarbha bowling. The home side was reduced to 75 for 6 by the end of the day. Opener Om T Munde showed some resistance with 18 off 51 balls, while Soumya R Lenka remained unbeaten on 15 from 25 deliveries.

For Vidarbha, Gaurav Farde continued his fine day with the ball, taking 2 for 18 in 10 overs, supported by Sanyog Shyam Bhagwat, who picked up 2 for 2 in just 4.4 overs.

At stumps on Day 1, Odisha trailed by 91 runs, with Lenka holding the key to their first-innings revival when play resumes on Day 2.
