CK Nayudu Trophy: Clinical Odisha beat Haryana by an innings and 18 runs

Sambalpur: Odisha produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat Haryana by an innings and 18 runs in their Col C K Nayudu Trophy (U-23) clash at Veer Surendra Sai Stadium, here on Monday.

Opting to bat first, Haryana were bowled out for 276 in their first innings. Rohan Deshwal led the fight with a solid 108 off 158 balls, scoring 15 fours and two sixes. Vivek Kumar added a brisk 55 from 56 deliveries, which included eight boundaries and a six.

For Odisha, Asutosh Marndi was the standout performer with the ball, picking up 5 for 69 in 12 overs. Ashutosh Chhuria chipped in with 2 for 42 from 14 overs. At stumps on Day 1, Odisha were 52/0 in reply.

Odisha responded in commanding fashion, piling up a massive 614 for 9 declared to take complete control of the match.

Sujal K Singh was the star of the innings, hammering 156 off 163 balls with 21 fours.
Shreyansh Bhardwaj contributed a patient 121 from 198 balls (14 fours), while Aashirwad Swain made 82 off 140 deliveries.

Useful middle-order contributions came from Om T Munde (67 off 95 balls, 11 fours) and Saideep Mohapatra (65 off 111 balls, 7 fours and a six), ensuring Odisha built a huge 338-run first-innings lead.

For Haryana, Aashirwad Sharma bowled a long spell of 39 overs to claim 3 for 144. Aayush Sharma (2/106 in 30 overs) and Param Chandila (2/124 in 26 overs) were the other wicket-takers.

However, Haryana showed resistance in their second innings but could not avoid defeat.

Yash Dhanda scored 69 off 137 balls with seven boundaries, while Rohan Deshwal added 45 from 62 balls, including seven fours and a six. However, the rest of the batting line-up failed to convert starts into big scores.

Sayed Tufail Ahmad was exceptional with the ball, finishing with 3 for 24 in 14.2 overs. Saideep Mohapatra also impressed, returning figures of 3 for 79 in 30 overs.

Haryana were eventually bowled out for 320, still 18 runs short of making Odisha bat again.
