Chandrababu Naidu to push Centre again for recognising Amaravati as Andhra capital

Amaravati: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday said his government has already urged the Centre to officially recognise Amaravati as the capital of andhra Pradesh and will take up the request again.

Speaking to Amaravati farmers at the Secretariat, Naidu said the state will also seek an extension of the “capital gains” time limit for them. He assured farmers that their concerns on returnable plots, infrastructure and land issues will be reviewed regularly.

Naidu said Amaravati must serve as Andhra Pradesh’s “growth engine” and stressed that farmers who contributed land should benefit first from its development. He added that requests such as increasing the Floor Space Index (FSI) will be examined.

The chief minister advised farmers to coordinate with the three-member committee formed to address their issues and urged them not to sell returnable plots, predicting a rise in land value as development picks up.

Amaravati farmers announced plans to form an “Amaravati Development Association” and expressed full support for a second phase of land pooling.
