Nagpur: A brilliant all-round effort led by Anwesha Swain guided Odisha Under-15 women to a convincing seven-wicket victory over Jammu & Kashmir in the Women’s Under-15 One Day Trophy (Elite-C) match at the VCA Stadium, Civil Lines, here on Saturday.
After opting to bat first, Jammu & Kashmir were bowled out for 117 in 34.1 overs. Janvi Rajput top-scored for J&K with 28 off 36 balls, hitting four boundaries, while Saanvi Sunil contributed 15 runs. Odisha’s bowling attack was led by Anwesha Swain, who delivered an outstanding spell of four wickets for 16 runs in 6.1 overs, at an economy of 2.59. She was well supported by Romi Pralipta Mallick, who picked up 2 for 21 in her six overs.
In reply, Odisha chased down the target comfortably, reaching 118 for 3 in 26.4 overs. Anwesha Swain capped off a memorable day with the bat, smashing an unbeaten 47 off just 24 balls, which included nine fours and one six, at a remarkable strike rate of 195.83. She was ably supported by Chirashree Rout, who remained not out on 40 from 78 deliveries, anchoring the chase.
For Jammu & Kashmir, Sonakshi Sharma returned tidy figures of 1 for 12 in 7 overs, while Dhanya Sharma claimed 1 for 17 from her five overs, but the bowlers could not stop Odisha from crossing the line with ease.
