Paradeep: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNS India) has launched a community water purification plant in Handia village, Paradeep, as part of its CSR initiative “Project Trupti.” The facility, located in the Nuagarh gram panchayat, aims to provide clean and safe drinking water to local residents.
The plant, which features advanced multi-stage treatment technology, includes sand and carbon filters to ensure water quality meets WHO and IS10500 standards. Capable of dispensing 500 litres per hour, the plant will benefit over 1,500 households. It also includes a Water ATM, a smart card-based contactless system for easy and accessible water distribution.
The plant was inaugurated on May 16, 2024, by Suresha G, executive director of Operations at AM/NS India. The event was attended by Dr Vikas Yadvendu, head of CSR at AMNS India, Anam Swain, village president, Laxmipriya Mohanty, Naib-Sarpanch, and other local leaders.
“Under Project Trupti, we are proud to set up this community water purification plant. It will provide a convenient, affordable, and self-sustaining source of safe drinking water for our community. We plan to install another plant in Musadia village shortly,” Suresha G said.
