Bhubaneswar: The 51st Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Indoor Final Tournament-2024, held at the CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT), concluded recently.
Mahendra Kumar Gupta, joint secretary (Admin), CSIR, attended the occasion as the chief guest, accompanied by Dr Debashish Dash, director of Institute of Life Sciences, Bhubaneswar and G Yadav, chief engineer of BSNL, as the guests of honour. Awards were given away to the deserving winners in presence of Dr Ramanuj Narayana, director of CSIR-IMMT and Dr Bankim Ch Tripathy, the organising secretary of SSBMT Final -2024.
The event, organised by the CSIR-Sports Promotion Board, witnessed enthusiastic participation from various CSIR scientific laboratories nationwide. With over 200 participants competing for the national championship, the tournament showcased a diverse range of indoor games such as bridge, chess, table tennis, badminton and carrom.
The smooth conduct of the tournament was made possible through the collaborative efforts of match officials from sports associations including the All-Odisha Chess Association, Odisha Bridge Association, Odisha State Carrom Association, Odisha State Badminton Association and Odisha State Table Tennis Association.
Expressing gratitude, Bankim Chandra Tripathi, the organising secretary, extended heartfelt thanks to all participants, volunteers and staff of CSIR-IMMT for their dedicated involvement, ensuring the event’s success.
